The growing link between terrorism and organized crime has become a serious threat to international peace, stability and security. Although the nature of these two criminal phenomena is different, in that terrorism has political-ideological motives and organized crime has utilitarian motives for the perpetrators, this difference has never been able to prevent the convergence of these two phenomena. The present study, using a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to answer the fundamental question of what is the main motive for the intervention of terrorist groups in various forms of organized crime. Studies have shown that since the end of the Cold War and the limitation of financial resources, especially the reduction of financial support from states that support terrorism, committing organized crime has become the main priority of terrorist groups for their financing and is considered the focal point of the link between terrorism and organized crime. The results of the study show that currently, given the increasing importance of financing in the growth and spread of international terrorism, combating organized crime is considered a necessity of the global fight against terrorism.
